There is a wide variety of things to do if you ever get tired of the splendid beach at Meia Praia or of the excellent golf courses.

Waterparks - There are two major water parks around Lagoa that both offer large garden areas, swimming pools, and a great variety of “rides and slides”. They also have a choice of bars and restaurants.

 
 
   

The Big One is on EN125 at Alcantarilha, on the east side of Lagoa. Open 10am-6:30pm. Tel: 282 322 827

Slide & Splash is also on EN125 at Lagoa, and is the first of the two parks from the Apartment. Open 10am-5:30pm. Tel: 282 341 685

Almancil Karting
Open all year, the Almancil Karting racetrack is a 760m replica of the former F1 Brazilian racetrack. Established since 1992, the track is a leisure and competition complex - the perfect place for spending time with the family, catering for all ages. Tel: 289 399899

Cerro da Vila Museum and Archaeological Site
In Vilamoura you will find the remains of a noble mansion, a public spa, some fish salting tanks, foundations of a burial tower and a port area which shows how important the Roman presence was in this region. The discovery of Cerro da Vila and consequent development of its archaeological site has provided a valuable contribution towards understanding how these civilisations lived in Portugal and especially in the Algarve. Krazy World
Situated slightly inland in Algoz you will find an 18 hole challenging and fun miniature Crazy golf course, great for children of any age group. There is also a petting farm, swimming pool, quad bikes, pony rides, a crocodile park with reptile show and several other attractions - all in beautifully landscaped surroundings. Tel: 282 574134

Ria Formosa Nature Reserve
This covers 18,000 hectares in the exclusive resort of Quinta do Lago, completely unspoilt and quiet there are nature trails to see the many different bird species that migrate between Europe and Africa.

Roma Golf Park
In Vilamoura, this ancient Roman setting consists of two 18-hole crazy golf courses with attractive gardens, lakes and fountains. It is just a 5 minute walk from the Marina and offers great family entertainment. Open daily from 10.00 am til late. Tel: 289 300800

Zoos - Lagos Zoo is on Sitio de Medronhal, Barao de Sao Joao, Lagos (close to Bensafrim). In natural surroundings in the hinterland of Lagos, a colourful, chattering collection of birds and primates fill this animal park. You can see kangaroos, lemurs, plus lots of monkeys, toucans and even some pot bellied pigs. Restaurant and shop onsite. Tel: 282 688 236. Omega Zoo is a newer zoo on the main road to Monchique.

Cruises - There are many cruises and “seafaris” available from Lagos marina. Park up at the Marina car park and then take a stroll around the marina and along the Lagos promenade – you will find many companies offering you different trips. Vessels vary from an old schooner to a luxury motor cruiser. Cruises are generally three hours or a full day, and will include snacks or lunch.

Dolphin Seafaris (Tel: 282 312 941) - See the dolphins at play in a small semi rigid inflatable.

Bom Dia Cruises (Tel: 282 764 670) - A traditional style twin masted sailing boat.

Champagne Cruises (Tel: 965 656 675) - Smart motor cruiser with champagne and canapés.

Tennis Centre - Parque da Floresta is the largest resort in the western Algarve, 15km west of Lagos (on EN125). There are two hard courts and two synthetic grass courts, all floodlit. In the summer, open tournaments are available to children and mixed age couples, as well as a tennis academy. Alongside the courts, there is a bar serving drinks and the best pub pizzas in the Algarve!

Lawn Green Bowls - Parque da Floresta has 2 all weather Greenguage synthetic greens, offering up to 14 rinks. Club is open 7 days a week. The clubhouse serves meals, snacks and refreshments.

Scuba Diving - The clear waters and the interesting rocky coves at the Western end of the Algarve make it a firm favourite with divers. Tuition is available from experienced, qualified instructors.

Lagos Sub-diving School (Fishing port, Lagos Marina. Tel: 282 789 538). Government licensed diving school. Wreck and night diving.

Blue Ocean Diving & Kayak Centre (Porto de Mos, Lagos. Tel: 282 782 718). For snorkelling, diving and kayaking.

Scuba lessons are also available at the pool at Parque da Floresta.
