There is a wide variety of things to do if you ever get tired of the splendid beach at Meia Praia or of the excellent golf courses.

Waterparks - There are two major water parks around Lagoa that both offer large garden areas, swimming pools, and a great variety of “rides and slides”. They also have a choice of bars and restaurants.

The Big One is on EN125 at Alcantarilha, on the east side of Lagoa. Open 10am-6:30pm. Tel: 282 322 827

Slide & Splash is also on EN125 at Lagoa, and is the first of the two parks from the Apartment. Open 10am-5:30pm. Tel: 282 341 685

Zoos - Lagos Zoo is on Sitio de Medronhal, Barao de Sao Joao, Lagos (close to Bensafrim). In natural surroundings in the hinterland of Lagos, a colourful, chattering collection of birds and primates fill this animal park. You can see kangaroos, lemurs, plus lots of monkeys, toucans and even some pot bellied pigs. Restaurant and shop onsite. Tel: 282 688 236. Omega Zoo is a newer zoo on the main road to Monchique.

Cruises - There are many cruises and “seafaris” available from Lagos marina. Park up at the Marina car park and then take a stroll around the marina and along the Lagos promenade – you will find many companies offering you different trips. Vessels vary from an old schooner to a luxury motor cruiser. Cruises are generally three hours or a full day, and will include snacks or lunch.

Dolphin Seafaris (Tel: 282 312 941) - See the dolphins at play in a small semi rigid inflatable.

Bom Dia Cruises (Tel: 282 764 670) - A traditional style twin masted sailing boat.

Champagne Cruises (Tel: 965 656 675) - Smart motor cruiser with champagne and canapés.

Tennis Centre - Parque da Floresta, the mother resort to Quinta de São Roque, is the largest resort in the western Algarve, 15km west of Lagos (on EN125). There are two hard courts and two synthetic grass courts, all floodlit. In the summer, open tournaments are available to children and mixed age couples, as well as a tennis academy. Alongside the courts, there is a bar serving drinks and the best pub pizzas in the Algarve! Enquiries and reservation can be made via the Resort Reception here at Quinta de São Roque.

Lawn Green Bowls - Parque da Floresta has 2 all weather Greenguage synthetic greens, offering up to 14 rinks. Club is open 7 days a week. The clubhouse serves meals, snacks and refreshments. ! Enquiries and reservation can be made via the Resort Reception here at Quinta de São Roque.

Scuba Diving - The clear waters and the interesting rocky coves at the Western end of the Algarve make it a firm favourite with divers. Tuition is available from experienced, qualified instructors.

Lagos Sub-diving School (Fishing port, Lagos Marina. Tel: 282 789 538). Government licensed diving school. Wreck and night diving.

Blue Ocean Diving & Kayak Centre (Porto de Mos, Lagos. Tel: 282 782 718). For snorkelling, diving and kayaking.
